Joe Tanous

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board

As CEO Mr. Tanous brings significant leadership to RedRover. He is responsible for corporate strategy, marketing, sales, customer programs, and financing.

Mr. Tanous has headed up executive management teams at start-ups for more than 15 years along with 15 years as a venture investor. Mr. Tanous has also been involved in many successful start-up ventures including OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, Contour Design Systems and AutoDesk.

Matt McLaughlin

Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Engineering

Mr. McLaughlin is CTO at RedRover where he guides and implements all strategic engineering activities. Mr. McLaughlin is inventor and co-inventor on several patents pending.

Prior to joining RedRover, Mr. McLaughlin co-founded MyStrands (initially known as MusicStrands), a successful recommendation engine provider. At MyStrands, Mr. McLaughlin defined the consumer client (Windows and Macintosh) and GUI design, and managed the development team for the company’s first three releases. During MyStrands, Mr. McLaughlin pursued his MS degree as well as innovated and designed key features for TaskTracer, later to become a successful Oregon State University spin-off. He also contributed to the design and development of COFE, an open source collaborative filtering engine that is currently in use by multiple businesses.

Mr. McLaughlin holds BS and MS degrees in Computer Science with a specialty in Recommender Systems and a minor in Business from Oregon State University.

Jack Winter

Chief Financial Officer

John W. “Jack” Winter, Jr. is RedRover’s CFO and plays an integral role in the company’s formation and growth. As someone whose role depends upon financial integrity, Mr. Winter intimately understands the importance of error-free spreadsheets and recognizes the necessity of RedRover’s technology within every financial department.

Mr. Winter spent most of his business career with Arthur Andersen LLP where he most recently served as Managing Partner of Andersen’s Pacific Northwest Audit and Business Advisory practice and managed the firm’s offices in Boise, Portland and Seattle. After leaving Andersen in 1998, Mr. Winter has engaged in venture capital activities, served on the boards of a variety of business organizations, and owned and managed various entrepreneurial businesses.

Mr. Winter studied engineering and has a BS degree in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

David L. Preston

Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Development
Mr. Preston has a 30 year history of driving innovation in the computer industry. Mr. Preston spent 20 years at Intel where he did a great many things including leading Intel’s side of a $200M research and development collaboration with IBM to drive the server industry to a bladed form factor, and helping to found the internal incubator of Intel Capital. During this period Mr. Preston served on the board of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum and was an angel investor. Prior to Intel Capital, Mr. Preston had 10 years experience at Intel in a variety of financial, sales and marketing management roles including one as GM of an internal start-up and one as controller for another internal new venture. Mr. Preston sold mainframe computers for IBM in the Midwest before joining Intel.

Mr. Preston has a BA in economics from Kalamazoo College, an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in corporate strategy and the management of innovation from the University of Oregon.

Research Group

Research utilized by RedRover Software was and is continuing to be developed by three active research professors, Dr. Margaret Burnett, Dr. Martin Erwig, and Dr. Gregg Rothermel. Each is also a co-founder of EUSES (End Users Shaping Effective Software), a collaboration of international universities and Fortune 500 participants focused on developing effective software for end user programmers.
